La Gavotte runs horseback riding camps for 5 to 12 year olds during school vacation – one week of riding out of doors and getting to know both animals from the farm and from the region. Contrary to other riding schools, we encourage bonding between the horse and its rider; a child becomes familiar with his/her horse and learns to provide the
right care and ride bareback (without a saddle). This is more than a sports camps. Rather, it is a week where teenagers, adults and children share wonderful times around ponies. During summer camps, we have a show every Friday evening for parents. Weather conditions do not permit shows during Easter and Autumn camps. However, we organize
the Friday evening Buffet, starting at 7PM, for all families.
A unique experience, amongst animals roaming freely about (lamas, pigs, goats, sheep, ponies, dogs, hens, donkeys, etc.) in a cool and agreeable setting. Kids ride bare-back, take care of the animals and are also supervised by teenagers who have gone through the same camp. This makes for great bonding between different age groups. The show at the end of the week (in summer only) is a Superlative Form of Art, not to be missed!
My son (age 6) and his best friend (age 7) absolutely L-O-V-E-D it all. These camps are successful and quickly fill up. If interested, do be aware that registration begins early April for summer.
These are day-camps as kids do come home at night except for the day where everyone stays (not mandatory if yours is a bit shy or uneasy about it) and sleeps under the open sky. It's well organized and practical for working parents as kids are taken care of from 9 am to 6 pm. Drinks, meals and snacks are included, no need to prepare a lunch box.
