Texte tiré de la documentation officielle:

Conceived as a multidisciplinary museum, the Museum of Art and History houses collections from the fields of archeology, fine arts and applied arts and is a remarkable testimony to the history of civilizations, from prehistory to the present day. (...) Geneva is the only Swiss city to boast of an encyclopedic museum, bringing together key aspects of Western culture, from its origins to the present.

(...) The Cultural mediation area of the Museum regularly holds activities for young audiences and their families, to be found on the visits calendar marked with a specific pictogram: visits, discovery tour, workshops or storytelling (...)

HappyKid comment:

A museum may not always enthrall kids; art and history sometimes are tough subjects that don't easily compare to playing games or just plain "having fun", so... dragging the family off to the museum can be a challenge! smiley

But it so happens that the permanent collections of the Museum of Art and History are filled with fascinating objects for kids. What did a typical Geneva soldier's armor look like at the time of the Escalade? What did Roman money look like? What really is a mummy? These are some of the answers to the 1001 questions that you may ask yourself while browsing through and admiring the collection's masterpieces in one of Geneva's main cultural landmarks.

Discovery pamphlets are available for free at reception to stimulate our future historians' imagination and sense of deduction; specific themes guide them through the museum, to explore and find exhibits, observe curiosities and do an activity. Other activities for kids, workshops and storytelling are regularly scheduled (see HappyAgenda).
