Fancy a nature getaway without leaving Basel's city center? Head to the Zolli!
Here, the family can discover animals from every continent: lions, zebras, giraffes, and African elephants; monkeys of all sizes, as clever and mischievous as our own; penguins (who go out for a walk penguin-style every winter day as soon as the temperature drops below 10 degrees); majestic snow leopards; reptiles of all kinds in the vivarium. Between the tropical pavilions, the aquarium, and the wide-open spaces, you can travel the world in a single day. You can visit the zoo whatever the weather, to educate your kids about animal diversity, learn together how all these species live and are protected, and admire them up close. It's a change of scenery, magnificent, and incredibly enriching for both young and old, curious by nature. So, are you ready to discover Basel's wild side?
Note: Feeding for most species takes place throughout the day; only the pelicans and sea lions are fed at set times (3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively). Guided tours are also available in English (and other languages as well). The penguin walk is absolutely adorable!
A big thank you to HappyMum Iva K. for the photo of the children with the gorillas!
